| Wilodene "Wid" Barker Brown age 91, of Fairground Road, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 8:44 a.m., Saturday September 7, 2013 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, West Virginia following an extended illness.
Born February 24, 1922 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Frank and Ethel Garrett Barker. On August 26, 1940 she was united in marriage to Lilburn "Tim" Brown, who preceded her in death on November 3, 1998.
Wid attended Glenville State College for 2 years and then taught in Gilmer County. She later attended Morris Harvey College in Charleston and eventually got her Master's Degree from WVU, and retired from teaching in Maryland. She and Tim owned and operated "Tim-Wid Cottages" on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. After selling the cottages they moved to Florida until Tim's death in 1998.
Wid moved back to Glenville, where she lived until 2005 when she broke her hip, went into the nursing home, where she was living at the time of her death. She was a member of the Glenville Church of Christ and was an avid golfer, and loved to fish in Canada.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, WV., at 11:00 a.m., Thursday September 12, 2013 with Pastor Gene Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery, Glenville. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Mortuary.
