HUGHESNET GEN4 ALLOWS BROADBAND SERVICE IN RURAL AREAS - Frontiers Wired Service Just A Promise

If you're waiting for Frontier to bring real high-speed broadband to you in this rural area, you're likely in for a long wait.

Frontier has issued a number of press releases regarding the expansion of their service to rural areas, but in Calhoun and most of the region the system remains the same with so-called high speed service available within two or three miles of sub-stations.

We have been reporting for over 15 years the importance and the promises of broadband, and the inability of small businesses to survive using the inadequate service.

The only hope now is satellite service, which is now available for as little as $40 a month using the new and improved HughesNet Gen4 system, with quick service and installation provided by Advanced Wireless in Ripley.

While Frontier, likely admitting the default of their wired "high-speed Internet," has been offering the HughesNet Gen4 package in a bundling of their services, but the best deal is to go with an independent company by Advanced Wireless, which can be accessed through a banner on the Herald.

After years of frustration, we have switched to Advance's Gen4 service to upload the Herald, with broadband speeds being close to those advertised. There are brief, temporary outages when a storm rolls across the area.
