Paul Pursley, 87, of Spencer, West Virginia, died at 6:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in the CAMC - Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
He was born June 21, 1926 in Spencer, a son of the late Dennis W. and Prudie Carpenter Pursley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. Pursley, in 2006.
Paul was a retired auto body mechanic. He had worked for the former Spencer Truck and Implement Co and Crihfield Motors both in Spencer. Paul was a decorated World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 21, Spencer. He was also a member of the Boggs Fork Community Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Miller of Easley, SC; his wife, Kitty Hughes Pursley of Dacula, GA; two step children; three grandchildren, Lisa Massey of Williamston, SC, Angela James and David D. Miller both of Easley, SC; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Craig of Brunswick, OH.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Russell B. Stump, II officiating. Burial, with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 21, will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
