| Marvin R. Whipkey, 73, of Parkersburg, passed away July 29, 2013.
He was born in Grantsville, W.Va., the son of the late James H. and Fonda Radabaugh Whipkey.
He had retired from the WV Division of Highways after 25 years and six months of service. He had at one time attended the Cedar Grove Community Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruthaline E. Kendall Whipkey of Parkersburg; his daughter, Kathy Wigal and husband Mike of West Salem, Ohio; one son, Marvin Ray Whipkey II and wife Angie of Parkersburg; his grandchildren, Matthew Wigal and wife Dana of Ohio, Philip Wigal and wife Jen of Ohio, and Brandi Whipkey of Parkersburg; his great-grandchildren, Ella and Elise Wigal of Ohio, and Gracelynn Wigal of Ohio; his sister, Barbara Roberts of Five Forks, W.Va.; his brothers, Wavel Whipkey of Vienna and Gail Siers of Elizabeth, W.Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Whipkey; one brother, Donzel Whipkey; and two sisters, Willadean Amos and Minnie Mae Cain.
A celebration of his life by his family will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m.
