A Calhoun man has been charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine meth lab.
Richard Earl Conley, 55, of Country Lanes, Mt. Zion, has been arrested for operating or attempting to operate a clandestine meth lab by the WV State Police. He is also charged with DUI, controlled substance.
State Police, in the criminal complaint, say they responded on June 29 to a two-vehicle collision on US 33-119 at Speedy Mart in Arnoldsburg.
Sr. Trooper J. A. Newman, while assisting responders in extracting Conley from his vehicle, observed a container under the seat beside and 8 1/2" knife.
Following Conley being life-flighted to a medical center, the officer said he discovered a receipt from WalMart and corresponding items
related to meth making.
The items listed in the complaint included Drano, acetone nail polish remover, and Coleman propane fuel.
Officer Newman said he also discovered under the driver's seat in a container, glass pipes with residue and a white powder substance that was field tested for meth.
Conley is in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $30,000.
