Naomi 'Ruth' Dawson, 77, of Arnoldsburg, WV, formerly of Ripley, WV passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 9, 2013 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. She spent the last 10 years with her daughter in Charlottesville VA due to health issues.
Born on February 20, 1936 in Calhoun County WV, she was a daughter of the late Dorse and Melba Tucker Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Dawson and her brother, Larry Jarvis.
Ruth earned an Associate Degree from Parkersburg Community College. She worked as a social worker much of her life and enjoyed helping people. In her retirement, she enjoyed attending JABA Day Care, listening to music, floral arranging, painting, traveling, riding a Harley as a passenger with her son and most of all, spending time with her family for whom she loved dearly.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen R. Dawson and Michael J. Dawson of Ripley, WV. She is also survived by her daughter, Daphne L. Dawson of Ruckersville VA, beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and a sister, Debra Sears of West Virginia.
A memorial service will be held at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, Friday, July 19, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Minnora Cemetery. |
