Leona Roberts Heiney, 91, went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born, March 8, 1922, on Matthews Hill at Leaf Bank in Grantsville, WV to Harry and Della Roberts.
Leona worked at B.F. Goodrich and also worked as a cook at the Grantsville Grade School for 15 years. The kids all loved her and called her Gramma. She always loved children, and her dream was to turn the dairy barn into a place for homeless children.
Leona was known for her famous smile. She was a loving mother and a faithful Christian. She belonged to Enon Baptist Church since 1950 and also served as Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include her children, Daniel (Carolyn) Heiney, Larry (Sheila) Heiney, Linda (Robert) Fivecoat, Kim (Mike) Batten all of Grantsville and Lisa (Gene) Smith of Charleston WV; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers; Haven, Roy, Harry and Donald Roberts; and one sister, Gladiola Anderson.
The family would like to thank the Senior Citizens for all of their help. Marlene Webb, Crystal Holbert, Jim Myers and all of the other caregivers as well the Stump Funeral Home. She will be truly missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday July 7, 3:00 pm, at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. John Vannoy and Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to the services. Interment will follow in the Nobe Cemetery.
