Quick action by the Elizabeth/Wirt Volunteer Fire Department quickly doused a fire in Elizabeth Monday morning, after a UPS driver spotted smoke coming from a Washington Street dwelling.

No one was home when the fire erupted.

Firemen indicated the cause of the fire was likely electrical, flames were confined to one room.

The Elizabeth-Wirt VFD responded to gas compressor or well fire near Burning Springs Sunday morning, the Grantsville VFD was called for assistance, but returned to station.
