 Kathy J. Matheney, 57, of Spencer, West Virginia, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born January 3, 1956 in Germany, the daughter of the late William Cecil "Jim" and Hester Faye Payne Drake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garry A. Matheney; and a brother, Robert Drake.
Kathy was an RN, mother, grandmother and farmer. She was a member and Past Matron of the Linden Chapter No. 152, O.E.S., Linden and a dual member of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27, O.E.S., Spencer. She was vice-president of Garry Matheney Construction, Spencer. Kathy was a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton and attended the Keffer United Methodist Church, Clover. Also, she was a member and officer of the Roane County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Andy Engle of Spencer; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lora Matheney of Spencer; four grandchildren, Gabrielle Engle, Gracianna Engle, Parker Allen Matheney and Paidyn Lynn Matheney; a brother, Larry Drake of Newton; and a sister, Anita Hunt of Newton.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 1 in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer with the Rev. Danny Whited and the Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery, Beech. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where an Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
