Flash Flood Watch in effect from 8 PM EDT Thursday evening for Calhoun and region through
Thursday afternoon.
A serve thunderstorm watch was issued to this region at 11:45 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m.
Several parts of the Mountain State could see some severe weather with high wind and tornado watches out.
If you happened to be outside after 11 p.m. in Calhoun, there was a spectacular lightening display to the north, the storm striking a number of West Virginia counties, hundreds of bursts a minute.
At 12:30 a.m. Thursday we had not heard reports regarding damage linked to the storm, with radar still clear over Calhoun.
Weather predictors are worried about the atmospheric conditions being ripe for derecho-like winds.
NWS FLOOD WATCH: Any heavy shower or thunderstorm could dump an inch of rain in
an hour or less. These downpours would cause the usual street
and poor drainage flooding. However several rounds of
convection are possible into early Thursday afternoon. If rain
totals of 2 to 3 inches affect the same creek basin, more
serious flash flooding could occur.
