Raymond Jefferson Schoolcraft, 87, of Walton, West Virginia, passed
away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at home after a long illness with his loving family by his side.
He was born on September 14, 1925 at Walton, a son of the late Matt and Elma Garst Schoolcraft. He formerly worked in the oil fields and for the West Virginia Department of Highways, was a longstanding member of the Walton Volunteer Fire Department, loved to hunt and fish, and was a vivid outdoorsman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Ira Schoolcraft; and three sisters, Ruby Slack, Edna Schoolcraft, and Rowena Schreckengost.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lillian Randles Schoolcraft; three children, Judy Parker White (Donald) of Sissonville, West Virginia, James H. Parker (Lou) of Walton, and Randy W. Parker (Kathy) of Holly Hill, Florida; two grandchildren, Angela Hunt of Clendenin, West Virginia and Michael E. Parker of Gandeeville, West Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Justin M. Jett, Summer Hunt, James M. Parker, and Kendra G. Parker; and two sisters, Rosa Casto of Clendenin, West Virginia and Vesta Ferzelle of Dunbar, West Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia with Rev. Jerry Board officiating. Burial will be in the Looney Cemetery near Walton. Visiting hours are Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
