WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Man Shoots Down Power Line, Stealing Cooper Electrocuting Him, Morgantown Student Brings Gun To School

STUDENT BRINGS GUN TO SCHOOL - A 15-year-old Morgantown High School Freshman is in juvenile custody after being found with an unloaded, stolen handgun at the school.

Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston says police received a report that a student had a gun on campus. After officers arrived they found the boy, who had been reported as a runaway.

"It was a large caliber revolver and it was hidden on his person," Chief Preston said.

A student reported that the individual had a concealed weapon.

It was not being brandished, officials said.

MAN SHOOTING POWER LINE DIES - A Fayette County man was electrocuted after he and an accomplice tried to steal copper wire by shooting down power lines, police say.

Deputies and rangers from the National Parks Service found the man's body tangled in downed electric lines in the Beury Mountain Wildlife Management Area near Thurmond.

Police have not released the dead man's name.

They have arrested Charles Raymond Norris, 22, of Oak Hill, saying he was also involved in the incident.

Police believe the men used a rifle to shoot down the lines, and that the unidentified man touched a live line at some point, electrocuting him.

CHARLESTON STABBING - A Charleston man is accused of stabbing another man with a pocket knife Tuesday.

It happened about 11:30 p.m.Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint, James William Martin, 56, was in a fight with Jamie Morris.

That's when Martin stabbed Morris with his pocket knife in the stomach. He wasn't seriously hurt, police said.

Martin is in the South Central Regional Jail, charged with malicious wounding.

HUNTINGTON TEEN SHOT - A Huntington teen was hospitalized after being shot in the leg.

Police got a report of multiple shots fired and found a vehicle with bullet damage.

The victim was Taquan Hayes, 19, who was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital for his injury.
