William Denver Sims, 91, of Camden, North Carolina, formerly of Brohard, Wirt County, WV, passed away April 29, 2013 at the home of Richard and Patty Bruerton in Camden, NC.
Born at Big Bend, he was a son of the late Walker Patton Sims and Arzona Richards Sims. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII having served in the South Pacific with the rank of Tech (5). He was a retired Wirt County school bus driver and was a well tender in the oil and gas industry. He was a member of the Strait Creek Baptist Church at Brohard.
Surviving are his children, Patty Bruerton (Dick) of Camden, NC, Shirley Ferrell (Randy) of Cambridge OH and Larry Lemasters (Bonnie Hill) of Bloomfield NJ; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Bruerton of Dyersburg, TN and Christina Borden of Jackson TN; one great granddaughter, Caroline Borden of Jackson TN; four brothers, Freddie M. Sims (Nellie) and James E. Sims (Sheila), all of Big Bend, Billy Ray Sims (Ona Belle) of Thornville OH and Richard Gale Sims of Cox's Mills WV; one sister, Bonnie Sims Webb Buck of Big Springs WV; two sisters-in-law, Betty Webb Sims Boggs of Grantsville and Marjie Wagoner Sims of Parkersburg WV.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Opal Busch Sims; four brothers, Walker P. Sims, Jr., Ernest Eugene Sims, Harold Glen Sims, and Willie Sims; one sister, Francis Irene Sims.
Friends may call at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville Saturday from 10:00 am until noon. Interment with graveside rites will follow in the Hartley Cemetery at Brohard with Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating.
