LOCAL STUDENT INVITED TO ATTEND LAW AND CSI FORUM

Jarrett Nicholas (right) a 16-year-old Sophomore at Calhoun High School has been invited to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and CSI in Washington DC in mid July.

Jarrett has been a member of the Calhoun Marching Red Devils and concert band for 4 years and is currently the Sophomore class treasurer.

He has attended the Governor's School for Math and Science and will be attending HOBY this summer. He plans on joining the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Dept. as a Junior member this summer.

Jarrett hopes to attend West Virginia University and then gain attendance to a law school and become a prosecuting attorney.

Jarrett is the son of Dean and Jennifer Nicholas of Big Springs, grandson of David and Sharon Nicholas of Orma and Alfred and Marlene Kight of Big Springs; great grandson of Denver Nicholas and the late Kay Nicholas and Nida Nicholas and Norma Rose Nicholas and the late Jarrett Rose and Earnest Nicholas; also thr late Walter and Ellen Loise Kight and the late Liddie Ellen Westfall and Harley Wilson and Lester "Unk" Westfall.

His family and friends are currently doing fundraisers to help with Jarett's expenses to the Forum, including a RADA knife fundraiser and are planning two raffles in the near future, one will be a raffle of WV items and the other is a raffle of Primitive items. At the Forum on Law and CSI, Jareett will explore the legal field, forensic science, and crime scene investigation, analyze evidence from a simulated crime scene, determine the significance of evidence to both the prosecution and defense and follow the chain of evidence from crime scene to trial, take on the role of a prosecutor or defense attorney and question expert witnesses.

Participants will share similarities with other attendees, and enjoy discovering the diverse backgrounds of their peers. Some will arrive knowing exactly which law specialty they hope to pursue, taking the opportunity to get a closer look. Other students will arrive with general thoughts about a career in law and CSI and explore several avenues during the Forum.
