Don M. Westfall, 87, of Route 5 East, Grantsville, Gilmer County, passed away April 28, 2013 at his home.
Born in Gilmer County, he was a son of the late Delford and Mildred Miller Westfall. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII, having served in Rhineland, Central Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He served with Company F, 9th Infantry Division as a Sergeant, squad leader and anti-tank gunner as well as 30. caliber machine gun operator. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Army Occupation Medal-Germany, Good Conduct Medal and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a retired heavy equipment operator in the oil and gas pipeline construction industry. He was a member of Eureka Lodge #40, A.F. and A.M. of Grantsville and the Knights of Pythias Lodge of Glenville.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Judy Westfall and his children, Charlene (Terry) Vukich of Canton OH, Judy Powell of Grantsville, Debra Meadows of Parkersburg, Amber (Tommy) Hamric of Glenville, Michael (Beverly) Westfall of Parkersburg and Angie Linger of Glenville; nine grandchildren, Christina Parsons, Debra King, William (Elizabeth) Meadows, Jr., Michelle (Curt) Westrick, Ean Hamric, Ashton Hamric, Robbie Parsons, Taylor and Teara Linger; as well as eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one daughter, Roberta Yeager; two brothers, Billy and Robert Westfall; three sisters, Gaytha Lockard, Emogene Sawyer and Sheila Weaver; two sons-in-law, William Meadows and Leonard Powell.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:00 pm, at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery at Tanner with full Military and Masonic graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday.
