The Creston auction will be held on Saturday, May 4, starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building. Bobby Ray Starcher, the auctioneer had been "vacationing" in one of those facilities that provides breakfast in bed, etc.

Some local folks have harvested some nice turkeys even though the season came in late again this year. Also some have been feasting on the tasty morels.

Harold Sturms has been a patient in the Minnie Hamilton hospital.

Connie Boggs, the Creston mail carrier, narrowly escaped serious injury Thursday when an 18 wheeler hit her chariot whilst she was delivering mail on W. Va. Route 5 between Creston & Burning Springs.

Carl and Amy Ferrell and baby Josiah were calling on Euell Russell at the Miletree Center. Also visiting Euell, Ray Gumm, Parris Parsons & Mrs. Tanner was Charles Russell. Euell, who is confined to a wheelchair, was called for federal grand jury duty.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

I. J. Lynch, Sr. was attending to business in Elizabeth.

As a result of an intervention by Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito, Charles Russell was able to get back his $43/month payment that the VA had taken from him. A VA spokesbabe, Eileen Kostic from the Philadelphia office, noted that Charles had not asked any of the "recognized veteran's service organizations" to help him with his Veterans Administration problems.

Jacques Frost made another call in the Creston area and it was reported that this has been one of the coolest springs in some time in spite of all the "global warming experts" and all the taxpayer funds they have taken from hard working taxpayers. The Big Eared One has perhaps set new records giving taxpayer money to his political cronies with Solyndra, etc. Such is called crony capitalism. Benito & Adolph did likewise in their days, taking care of their political cronies and benefactors.

Local residents have been following the Boston terrorist story where Moslem Chechen terrorists and associates, including perhaps a Saudi student (who never reported to his school & was on a terrorist watch list as someone who was armed & dangerous) killed and maimed those at the Marathon. After running over & killing his brother the surviving Chechen was singing like a bird at the hospital until Eric Holder, the AG (same fellow who handled the pardon of criminal billionaire Marc Rich of Clinton era fame) sent a judge and read him his "rights" whereupon the singing stopped. Turns out the Chechens were living large on, among other things, welfare 'benefits'. Some wonder if "Obamaphones" were used to detonate the explosions. Apparently the Obamaphone program now costs taxpayers $2 billion annually while taxpayers must pay their own telephone bills and pay taxes to provide for the welfare kings & queens.

Jared Mazezka, a spokesperson for Antero, said they wanted to modify an old Hope Natural Gas lease to allow for horizontal drilling but while the Rockefellers will get up front money and overrides, he proposed paying nothing for the modification. Of course those folks want to legislature to give them the right to take property without paying the going rate in bonuses and royalties and without any way for mineral owners to ascertain if they are being robbed.

The USDA's autumn olive has been in bloom and their multiflora rose bushes are, as usual, growing rapidly all of which goes to show that the fallout from government programs "to help people" continue, apparently forever, to be a burden on everyone. As part of the "fundamental transformation" one in five people are on food stamps and the USDA has an aggressive program in Spanish to sign up more, especially the illegal aliens.

Natural gas produced in March on Chestnut Run & Owl Hill sold for $3.01 while gas purchased at Burning Springs cost $13.348/mcf.

The heavy maintenance fellers repaired a small slip on W. Va. 5 on the hill before one goes down to Burning Springs.

The automobile that was abandoned down near Polecat when the driver was taken away in the cuffs "went away". Before that the license plate was removed by someone.

Mother Hope (Dominion) has been working on their gas lines in the Leason Hill region.

Steve Loudin's brother has his cabin framed up and closed in with plastic over the roof sheeting.

The Creston area neighborhood watch is raffling off a nice quilt. For details call Donna Sue at 275-3202.

Travelers in southern West Virginia near the Virginia line reported that gasoline there was $3.35/gallon but of course higher elsewhere in the state. The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil is $93.40 with drip gas [Appalachian light sweet] fetching $81.33, Marcellus & Utica light $88.26 and medium $94.90/bbl.
