A Calhoun man, Allen Ray Nelson, 28, was arrested and charged by State Police last Sunday for malicious assault, wounding and battery.
State Police responded to a Chloe area Mud Fork residence early Sunday morning to a dispute, according to a criminal complaint filed by Sr. Trooper J. A. Newman.
Calhoun EMS took George Cason to Minnie Hamilton Health System for treatment of multiple injuries, after being struck by a hoe by Nelson. Nelson is Cason's stepson.
Cason told police he went to a store, and upon returning, Nelson came up behind him with a hoe, saying "I'm going to kill you."
The complaint says Cason put up his arm to defend himself and the hoe cut into his arm.
Nelson is in Central Regional Jail, $5,000 bond.
In December, 2012, Nelson was charged for 1st degree arson following the burning of a camper.
