Larry Matics, 75, of Reedy, West Virginia, passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 14, 2013.
He was born July 31, 1937 in Roane County, a son of the late Alfred and Pearl Starcher Matics. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways and was a truckdriver. He was a member of the Reedy United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee and enjoyed farming, hunting, and watching his two grandchildren participate in sports events.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janet Stanley Matics; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Eric Strawderman of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; twin grandchildren, Cole Gregory and Madison Leigh Strawderman; two sisters, Rita Terrell of Reedy and Tresa Lea Westfall of Ohio; and four brothers, Robert (Bob), Donald, and Kenneth, all of Reedy, and James (Jim) of Florida.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Neal Matics; and two brothers, Alfred (Bill), Jr. Of Ohio and Benny of Reedy.
Service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery near Reedy. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
