WEBSTER STABBING - The Webster County Sheriff's Department arrested Gary Key, 56, of Cowen after they said he stabbed another man on Thursday morning.
It happened just after 4:30 a.m. with Key allegedly stabbing John Mills, 54, in the neck with the intent to kill him.
Police said Mills was sleeping on a couch.
They said Key fled, but was shortly arrested.
AirEvac flew Mills to CAMC General Hospital where doctors had to remove the knife from his neck. He is in critical condition.
Key is in Central Regional Jail with bail set at $500,000.
ATTEMPTED HOLD-UP - Kanawha County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who tried to rob a 7-11 store in Hernshaw on Thursday morning.
Police said a man walked into the 7-Eleven convenience store about 2:30 a.m. and demanded money. The clerk refused, and the suspect fled.
"All the while he was in there he kept his hand in his pocket, implying he had a weapon," police said.
