Robey S. O'Brien, 95, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Eldercare of Ripley in Ripley, West Virginia.
He was born April 10, 1917 at Linden, West Virginia, a son of the late James and Crecy Hamrick O'Brien. He was a former employee of the City of Spencer Water Department, a member of the Steele Hollow Community Church, and a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II where he received the Purple Heart.
He is survived by two step-daughters, Farilene Smith of Parkersburg, West Virginia and Phyllis O'Brien of Spencer; a sister, Katie Keaton of Deland, Florida; a brother, James O'Brien of Exeter, New Hampshire; eighteen step-grandchildren; and several step great and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah O'Brien; three sisters; and five brothers.
Services will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Rev. Jackie Roberts officiating and military honors being done at the funeral home as well.
Burial will be in the Young Cemetery near Linden. Visiting is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
