James Delmas Fluharty, 85, of Big Springs WV passed away at his home on March 26, 2013.
He was born in Calhoun County September 3, 1927, the son of the late James W. Fluharty and Minnie E. (Fox) Fluharty.
He was a former newspaper carrier for the Parkersburg Sentinel. He was a school teacher and taught school in a one room school house across from Prosperity Baptist Church many years ago. He owned Fluharty's Grocery Store & Gas Station for many years. He was a former employee of Rubber Fabricators. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service mail carrier for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelvia Jones; James Jones (son-in-law); and only grandchild, Erica N. Jones; one sister, WillaDean Bush of Palm Harbor, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred J. (Richards) Fluharty; two sons James Kevin Fluharty and Brian K. Fluharty; two sisters, Jean Wilson and Edna Radkin; as well as two brothers, Olin Fluharty and Doyle Fluharty.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. James Epling officiating. Interment will follow in the Fluharty Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 11:00 am until the time of the services.
