Leona Virginia Cowan Ward 92, of Grantsville WV passed away Tuesday March 26, 2013 at Worthington Nursing home in Parkersburg WV.
She was born January 27, 1921, in Harrisville WV the daughter of the late George and Augusta Cowan.
She worked at Calhoun General Hospital until retirement.
She is survived by her 4 children, Brenda Sue Ward of Parkersburg WV, Linda Lou Sampson (Willard) of St. Mary's WV, Virginia Busch (Fred) of Petroleum WV, Gale E. Ward (Debra) of Dade City FL; 1 brother, Omar Cowan of FL; 1 sister, Oma Jean Wilson of Massillon OH; 15 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great- great granddaughter;
special friend, Dale Rupert of Grantsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al Ward; 2 sons, Melvin Ward and Jack Cowan; 6 brothers, Lawrence, Olin, Emery, George Jr., Dennis and Cleo Cowan; and 2 sisters, Gladys and Waneta.
Services will be Friday March 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth WV with the Rev. Dwight Brohard officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am Friday until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at K o P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
