In spite of the rain a nice crowd gathered at the Creston Community Building for the Easter program, egg hunt and meal for all those who came. There was plenty to eat, ham, turkey, home made noodles, corn, beans, lima beans, tasty desserts, etc. Rev. Watkins gave a short Easter sermon before the meal was served. Nancy, the new fill in girl at the Brooksville post office, brought her family to the event. Her little daughter loved the steps going up to the stage and climbed down them very carefully.
Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. It should be noted that there will be no service at Burning Springs on Easter Sunday as all will be at the Sunrise service at New Home (Mayberry) above Palestine. That service starts at 6:30 A. M up on the hill overlooking Left Reedy.
Julia Joyce's daffodils are presently in their glory in spite of cold nights, snow squalls, etc.

The financial crisis on the island of Cyprus has many folks scared as the "solution" is to take up to 20% of folks bank accounts to bail out the regime that has spent more money than it can raise in taxes. Some said "That will never happen here". but then they were reminded that Roosevelt seized folks gold which was legal tender and gave them paper dollars. Older folks can remember when gold was worth $38/oz. Folks had their money confiscated then too.
The pro oil & gas movie "Fracknation" has been banned by the U. S. funded IMF [International Monetary Fund] because it "insults Russia". Presently the Russians and the Chinese are mending old fences to settle scores with the United States. Both countries have active spy, espionage and computer war activities against America and anyone else who would stand in the way of world communism. Both countries area building up their armies and navies while we disarm except for Homeland Security which buys ammo perhaps to use not on foreign enemies but citizens that are out of favor by those who handle the big eared one.
The Pittsburgh Rigging Company was inspecting the LKR bridge at Creston which has been said to be in worse shape than the bridge that was recently replaced at Annamoriah. A metal plate was placed over a hole in the deck. Later they inspected the Tucker's Creek bridge in Elizabeth.
Up on Elizabeth Hill there is a major repair job going on where the new road was put down the northern side. When the road was built by a politically connected "biggie" from down at the mouth of the Elk, the local construction inspectors were deemed "not worthy" and an inspector was brought in from the Weston district. He spent lots of quality time at a local watering hole and with a voluptuous young damsel. Shortly after the road was completed the Wirt road crew had to repair a section that had been filled with tree stumps.
The "sequester farce" continues with the report that the Parkersburg airport control tower is going to be shut down and there will be no money for testing in the schools & blah, blah, blah. Of course there are NO cuts, only a 2% reduction in the rate of growth of the bloated federal budget. Actually it seems that money is no problem as Joe Biden spent $585,000 for one night in a Paris hotel [she must have made Madame Pompadour look like a novice]. The next day Biden & his entourage spent just under $460,000 at posh London hotel. Then his boss, the big eared one, gave a cool $500 million to an Arab terrorist group "to advance the cause of peace". It is probably time to study more Scripture, especially since the Saudi radicalists funded the big eared one's Ivy League education.
Noble Energy, the outfit that paid CNX (the Rockefeller family firm) $7,100/acre for the right to drill Marcellus wells has been offering Gilmer County mineral owners $250/acre bonus and a 12.5% net lease covering all formations on properties not far from their horizontal Marcellus 6 well pad near Normantown. Also they are laying [or preparing to lay] a new gas line from the well pad to Jones Station in Lockney.

Jerry Campbell is spending time at a Marietta rehab center after having some stints installed.
Tom Bell's good looking daughter was attending to business in Creston & Elizabeth.
Mr. & Mrs. Carl Ferrell were calling on Mr. & Mrs. Denver McFarland and Joe and Marti Walker.
