24-INCH GAS TRANSMISSION LINE RUPTURES IN MARSHALL COUNTY

(03/23/2013)
A second large natural gas transmission line in WV ruptured Friday in Marshall County, this time in a remote area.

A Sissonville rupture and explosion caused major damage a few months ago, a study indicating the line's thickness had worn down.

The 24-inch line ruptured on U.S. Route 250, about 4 miles south of Cameron near Fish Ridge.

Reports indicted there was no fire and no injuries with the explosion, the line was shut off.

Several residences were evacuated on Reid and Fish Ridge as a precaution, and a road in that area was closed for about two hours.

The transmission line is owned by Williams Co. and the company with Cameron Fire Department personnel hiked to the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board and other state agencies will be handling the investigation.
