Glenville, WV - The Glenville State College Department of Science and Mathematics is hosting the first annual Health Professions Fair on Saturday, March 23rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom.
The fair is designed to help high school students, college students, and college graduates who want to further their education to understand the requirements that are needed for being accepted in post-graduate programs in the health professions field.
"We get inquiries all the time from students who want to know what courses they need to have in order to reach their career goals. The sooner they know what they will need will enhance their opportunities for post-graduate programs. So this fair will help them begin that process," said GSC Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Sara Sawyer.
Representatives from a variety of health professions programs will present information on their programs and be available to meet one-on-one with prospective students.
Presentations are scheduled as follows: 10:00-11:00 a.m. University of Charleston School of Pharmacy, 11:00 a.m.-noon. West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, 1:00-2:00 p.m. West Virginia University School of Dentistry, and 2:00-3:00 p.m. West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.
Glenville State College Department of Science and Mathematics graduates have an exceptional record of being accepted for graduate school. Four of six May 2013 GSC Science and Mathematics graduates have been accepted to graduate school: two to medical school, one to dental school, and one to pharmacy school.
The fair is free and open to all interested persons. No pre-registration is required.
