Second Chance Prom Gowns is a non-profit organization that assists high school students (and parents) to find the perfect prom gown and all the necessary prom accessories and services such as photography, nails, hair, jewelry, tanning, makeup, etc. at a reasonable price.
The organization was founded in 2011, with the mission to make sure all girls can go to prom looking and feeling beautiful without breaking the bank. Rallies have been held in over 8 WV counties and into parts of Ohio.
The next Second Chance Prom Gown Rally will be held at Calhoun County High School, 50 Underwood Circle, Mt. Zion, WV on March 23. The rally will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Gowns can be dropped off the day of the rally from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Gowns will not be accepted after 12:00 p.m. on March 23rd.
Volunteers will also be available from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accept gowns on Monday, March 18th at Mom's Place Too in Grantsville. If you have a gown you would like to sell, please feel free to bring it to one of the drop-off days or call Kathy Taylor at 304.615.8902 or MyLinda Kimball at 304.299.1500.
The Second Chance Prom Gown organization is pleased to assist gown owners in selling their old gowns. Gowns must be in good condition and gown owners must sign the organization's gown sale agreement form. Most of the gowns at the sales are generally worn once or not at all. They are only accepted if they are in "like new" or excellent condition.
Dresses are collected from all over WV and surrounding states- some have even come from as far away as Florida, Texas, and Alaska. The showing fee for short gowns is $1.00 and is $2.00 for long gowns; there is a 10% commission charged to sell gowns. Because the rallies are organized and ran by volunteers, the commission and showing fee goes into the "Keep the Rally Moving" fund which is used for operational costs for the events.
The rally is free to attend and will include several vendors who will be offering prom specials for attendees. Vendors will include a nail technician, spray tanning, hair stylists, and makeup vendors, among others. There will be door prizes for all who attend; the organization is accepting donations for door prizes. If your business or organization would like to donate a door prize, please contact event organizers. Cash donations will also be accepted and appreciated.
Please call Kathy Taylor 304.615.8902, MyLinda Kimball 304.299.1500, or TMAD Studio 304.804.2141 for more information. We'll see you at the Rally!
