Russett house along LK River long vacant

This long vacant house on a bank above the Little Kanawha River near Russett has long been vacant.

Access to the house was to use a boat to cross the river.

Its longtime occupants were brother and sisters, Walter E.(1883-1973), Jane and Mae Stump, children of Alonzo and Elizabeth Hall Stump, who lived in the house until they could no longer take care of themselves.

The trio was living in the house in 1930, all single.

They were caregivers to their parents until their death.

The last occupant was Dollie Perkins, who drowned attempting to cross the the swollen Little Kanawha River in 1969.
