The 2013 American Cancer Society Relay for Calhoun County held their official kick-off meeting February 26.
The Relay has been scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Wayne Underwood Field, starting around 4:00 p.m. The theme for 2013 is Families United Nowâ¦for a Cure! The focus will be on survivors and family involvement with loads of fun activities throughout the night.
The 2013 Relay for Life will be a celebration of life. Survivor recognition will go on throughout the night including a delicious catered dinner for survivors and a guest. Activities will include the annual car show, mini relays, live auction, bounce house, face painting, circus games and much more.
The Committee is looking for other games and entertainment throughout the night as well as new teams. Currently, there are 8 teams listed as participating but we are looking to grow.
There will be fundraising by the teams from now until the Relay so please help support their cause. Luminaries are available for purchase now to honor a loved one at the suggested donation of $5.00 each. Their names will be shared with candles lit during a special ceremony at dusk the night of the Relay.
The 2013 Calhoun County Relay Chair is Barb McKown with Judy Powell as the Assistant. Please contact either of them or a team captain to purchase a luminary.
An exciting change for this year will be the night of the Relay free food and goodies will be offered to all who come out. Look for more information to come!
