Elsie M. Miller Knight, 86, of Rosedale went to be with the Lord on July 31, 2002, following an extended
illness. She was residing at Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ivydale.
She was born in Braxton County on February 14, 1916, the daughter of the late James L. and Eliza Dunlap Putman.
Mrs. Knight was a homemaker and was formerly employed at the Gassaway Hospital, Gassaway, WV. She was a member
of the Charity Baptist Church, Wilsie, WV, and was a charter member of the Braxton County EMS.
Also preceding her in death were her husbands, Johnie Miller and Mack Knight; three sons, Orville, Glen and Johnie Jr.
Miller; and one daughter, Goldie Miller Frame.
She is survived by two sons, Frank Miller and wife, Carolyn of Rosedale, WV, and Johnnie Dale Miller and wife, Marla of
Frametown, WV.; three brothers, Robert Putman of Pennsylvania, Bernard Putman of Ohio and James Edward Putman of
Ohio; one sister, Gertrude Lamp of Ohio; eight grandchildren, David Miller, Dennis Miller and Rhonda Jodway of Michigan,
Molly McLaughlin of Glenville, Micky Miller of Rosedale, Jimmie Miller of Indiana, Jamie Miller of Frametown and Donna
Cox of Glenville; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are three stepsons, Elmer Knight of Ohio, James Knight of Cowen, WV, and Walter Knight of Sutton,
WV; seven stepdaughters, Evalee Miller of Gassaway, Edna Evans of Ohio, Goldie Gross of Ohio, Ruth Gross of Sutton,
Lorene Lewis of Ohio, Lucille Justice of Ohio, Violet Marcum of Ohio; and 24 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 3, 2002, at the Rosedale United Methodist Church with Pastor Robert
Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Pine Knob Cemetery near Rosedale.
