Dean Miller with some of the donations at
the Ronald McDonald House in Huntington
The Calhoun County Farm Bureau participated in the 'Food Check Out Week' in February.
Local collection sites included Foodland in Grantsville, Calhoun Banks in Grantsville, Holbert's Store in Big Bend and Seedy Mart in Arnoldsburg.
During the collection week there was approximately 18 pounds of aluminum can tabs, $321 in food and $451 cash and checks collected for the Ronald McDonald House. Posters and hand-outs were placed at each of the drop off locations and throughout the county by the Grantsville Guppies 4-H Club.
Dean Miller, President of the Calhoun County Farm Bureau and wife Sue, traveled to Huntington to help deliver the food and money collected. While there, they were able to take some of the money and go on a shopping trip with other Farm Bureau members to purchase much needed items for the Ronald McDonald House.
After shopping, they delivered the food and remaining money to the Ronald McDonald House where they were taken on a tour of the house and were given information about the organization.
The Calhoun Farm Bureau is very thankful for each person, group, business, organization and individual who donated their time, money and effort to make this fundraiser a success.
If you were unable to make it to the Food Check Out week and would like to donate to the Ronald McDonald Houses, the Calhoun County Farm Bureau will still take money donations. Those donations can be made payable to the Calhoun County Farm Bureau and mailed to 1105 Annamoriah Road Creston WV 26141. All money donated goes directly to the Ronald McDonald Houses of WV.
