Steven Knotts, 45, of Glen Dale and Orma WV, was killed Monday while working for Pete Gould & Sons Inc., a pipeline contracting company, doing work in Doddridge County.
He was a graduate of Calhoun High School in 1986 and a longtime employee of Gould.
Knotts was reportedly killed when a tree fell on him, according to the Sheriffs Department.
Workers were in the process of creating a right-of-way for a pipeline project.
Pete Gould and Sons president James Gold told media that Knotts was an experienced tree cutter.
U.S. Department of Labor regional director Leni Uddyback-Fortson says the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
OSHA has six months to issue a violation for the incident.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Knotts Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00-9:00 pm.
