Students of Arnoldsburg's Summer Academy and Kinder Academy had set a goal of reading a combined total of 500 books
during their 5-week summer programs. If students reached the goal, something nasty was going to happen to me! It came
down to the last week. On Monday of the final week students were 70 books shy of reaching the goal. Would I escape what
was planned for me? That question was answered the very next day when Jordan Mace walked down the hallway with book
report number 500 in hand-they did it! Eggs would fly, and I would be the target!
I think I want to thank Sav-a-Lot in Spencer for donating all the eggs. The Sav-a-Lot employees had way too much fun piling
up the eggs. I thought 3 or 4 eggs would be enough but they just kept filling the cart. I quit counting at the 200 mark. I think
they felt 500 books deserved 500 eggs! Please note, since we didn't want to send a wrong message about wasting food, all
the eggs were ones that were previously pulled from the shelves and would not have been sold to the public-students were
informed of this. I know I want to thank Tom Wilford for making the screen that protected me from the blunt of the
attack.
