Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church. Mary Newton and Pauline Brumfield both played and sang.
The wild turkeys are gobbling and spring, along with ice, snow, etc. seems to be in the future. It shouldn't be too much longer before ramps are up.
Weather permitting there will be an auction Saturday, March 2, starting at 6 P. M. at the Creston Community Building.
Austin Westfall won first place in his division in the Science Fair with a project on Viet Nam. He now moves on to the regional competition.
While the Wirt County levy passed county wide it was thumped in the Burning Springs/Creston precinct. One resident noted that the commission didn't stand up to the federales on the new flood plain map and now his federally mandated flood insurance is ten (10) times what it was formerly even though his property has never flooded. Flood insurance is like the Marxists want to have with health insurance -- a "single Payer system" [the federal government] with no competition. While the county "flood plain coordinator" is glib he was no help in resolving the absurd situation. The FEMA man who apparently was from Phildelphia couldn't pronounce Little Kanawha.
Mary & Steve Newton from Blaineville Georgia, Ryan, Jessica & Ryland Marks from Lower Salem, Ohio, J. P. Marks from Millstone, A. C., Cooter & Sis Marks from Burning Springs, C. Romeo Griffin, Jr. & family from Owl Hill were all calling at the Creston Space Dock. Steve Newton looks fine after being properly treated and cured at a Cancer Center of America facility.
W. Harrison Schenerlein IV was attending to business in New Martinsville and dined at Quinet's famous eatery. He then toured the Delf Norona Museum and climbed the Graves Creek mound. He also noted continuing construction at the Williams Company fractionation plant below Moundsville and the Rockefeller family gas fractionation plant at Natrium.
There has been lots of talk about the "sequester" and how the world is "coming to an end" over a slowing of growth [not a real cut] of $44 billion in a budget of $3.7 trillion. On the local level the Veterans Administration informed Charles Russell that he was not entitled to his VA benefit check of $78/month and that the funds should go to the nursing home for Euell. As a result of the action Charles will have a cut in his income of over 10%. The beaurocrat in Louisville Kentucky even demanded that all funds in Charles checking account be taken out and turned over to Genesis Health Care.
Vice president Joe "Biteme" Biden explained how one ran off robbers, rapists, etc. One buys a shotgun and then goes out on the balcony and shoots off both barrells. That, he said, would scare them off. Where he lives doing such would be a crime. As a result of the attack on the Second Amendment [tyrants cannot abide an armed populance] local sheriffs are doing a land office business in concealed carry permits. One sheriff noted, "More in the last month than in the last three years." However, there is a shortage of ammo and brass for old military issue guns cannot be found. It is now reported that homeland security's Janet Incompetano has now bought enough hollow point ammo for a 24 year war.
Paul Krugman who is a spokesperson for the administration admitted the other day that there would have to be significant tax increases on the middle class to fund Obamacare and that there indeed would have to be death panels. Not so long back Sarah Palin was savaged for pointing out what was obvious from the beginning.
North Korea has announced that they would hit us with ICBMs armed with nuclear bombs and China has been caught waging major cyber warfare against America's military and private businesses while it builds a bluewater navy and increases military spending. Russia flew war planes armed with nuclear bombs around Guam and did a dry run as if one were going to attack the American mainland. Meantime the proposed new defense secretary takes money from terror groups and Brennan the proposed CIA pick has been selling weapons to the Moslem Brotherhood/Al Qaida. The new Secretary of State who was formerly referred to as the Senate gigolo gave a big speech saying that the war America was going to wage was on the weather. No wonder it took 10 days for his Russian counterpart to get back with him. It took the Russians that long to quit laughing at our folly. Perhaps also they consulted with Jane Fondu as to how to deal with the pomous dunce. They worked together to help the Viet Cong some years back.
Senator McVain and his buddies are out promoting amnesty for illegal aliens again so that 20 million more can show up for welfare benefits, free health care, etc. Lots of them now are obviously Chinese and many are obviously not educated. When McVain made a rare visit to the state where he formerly lived he got an earfull on illegal immigration but, of course, it didn't phase him. If the illegals were gone and the SSI cases were reviewed to eliminate the obviously able bodied the welfare roles would go down and there would be work for American workers. Presently in Los Angeles, 40% of all workers are paid in cash to give on an idea of the problem.
Direct Tee Vee announced that they will be dropping Fox News on March 1. The government controlled media has been a war with anyone who would dare question the orthodox Party line on anything and one way to eliminate voices is to make the alternative unavailable. Usually this is called censorship. Some local residents may be changing to Dish very soon. Direct Tee Vee claimed Fox New was charging too much.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $93.53 with drip fetching $82.96, Marcellus & Utica light $88.38 and medium $95.03/bbl. Travellers going on US 33-119 note that between Stumptown and Normantown there has been a lot of surveying and activity obviously for more Marcellus drilling. Presently Noble is drilling on the Meadows property downstream on Steer Creek from Normantown. |
