Edna B. Turner, age 103 of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday February 19, 2013 in the Glenville Care and Rehab Facility, Glenville, WV, following a short illness.
Born November 21, 1909 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Scott and Locy Altop Vanhorn.
Edna was a homemaker, a Christian by faith, and she loved the word of God. She attended the Glenville Normal School and in her younger years she delivered milk in Glenville, drove a logging truck for her husband's business, enjoyed gardening, and taking care of anyone who would let her. Edna was a well respected housewife, family friend, and neighbor.
In 1929 she was united in marriage to Virgil Turner who preceded her in death in 1975.
Surviving are 1 niece, Rosalia Furr of Weston, West Virginia; 2 nephews, Ronald Vanhorn of Florida, and Bobby Turner of Glenville; 5 great nieces, Faith Postalwait of New York, Annie Preiser of Ripley WV, Sonia Wilt of Glenville, Pam Batten of Parkersburg WV, and Shae Luzader of Ohio; 3 great-nephews, Jeff Furr of Pennsylvania, Mark Vanhorn of Belpre Ohio, and Bill Turner of Glenville. She is also survived by a host of great-great nieces and nephews and long time caregivers Ray and Betty Anderson.
In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by her brothers Corley, Ross, and Robert Vanhorn.
Funeral Services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. Glenville WV. at 1:00 p.m. Friday February 22, 2013 with Pastor Alfred Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in the Stalnaker Cemetery in Glenville WV. Friends may call from 11:00-1:00 the funeral hour.
