Virginia Ellyson Simmons, 92, passed away
February 15, 2013 at home on Leading Creek,
Gilmer County.
She was born May 19, 1920 on Sinking Creek,
Gilmer County WV, the daughter of the late Walter
Ellyson and Rosa Belle Price Ellyson.
Virginia grew up in Gilmer County and married
Creed Simmons. They later moved to Indiana and
lived there many years. After Creed retired they
moved back to Gilmer County where they enjoyed
the country life and visiting with their many
friends in the area.
She is survived by her daughter Wilma Wells
(Jesse) of Glenville WV; son Marvin Simmons (Cathy)
of Indiana; as well as grandchildren, Heather,
Rachael, Evelyn, Kim, Creed, Clinton and Amy; several great-grandchildren; sister and brother Genevieve Earl
of Grantsville WV and Willard Ellyson of Lehigh
Acres FL.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in
death by her husband, Creed Simmons; brothers
Arch Ellyson, George Ellyson, Walter James
Ellyson, Edward Ellyson, Bernard Ellyson and
Charles Thomas Ellyson; one sister, Martha
Jane Ellyson Kyer Spencer.
Private services were held February 18, 2013 at
Ellyson's Mortuary with interment at the
Stalnaker Cemetery on Route 5 West. |
