Arlan Gail "Butch" Burch, Jr., 62, of Grantsville WV, died on February 17, 2013 at the home of his sister.
He was born on May 15, 1950, to Arlan Gail and Catherine Kelley Burch of Grantsville.
Arlan graduated from Calhoun County High School and attended Glenville State College.
He worked at various jobs including factory work at Rubber Fabricators in Grantsville, Kenny Shoes in Glenville WV and Norris Industries in Spencer WV.
Most recently he was employed by the Calhoun County Commission at the Calhoun County Park and the Calhoun County Courthouse. Arlan served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years.
Arlan's biggest joy was music, playing guitar and singing with his friends in the band, Dixie Moon.
He loved the West Virginia mountains and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
He was a patriot who cherished our constitution and worried that our freedoms were being eroded. He had a big heart and a gentle spirit and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Arlan is survived by his sister, Patricia Barnes (Jack); nieces, Stephanie Mills (Geoff), Holly Martin (Breck) and nephew Eric Barnes. He is also survived by special friends, Mike and Mary Alice Wilson and son Mike Jr., Harold and Jean Wilson, Rick Pitts, Donnie Price, J.B. Butcher, Rick Magly, Tom and Barbara Fluharty, Bob and Gina Burns, Richard and Shirley Starcher. If we are lucky to have one good friend in life, then Arlan was truly blessed because he had several. We are not forgetting all the other friends Arlan had including employees at the Calhoun County Courthouse and Calhoun County Magistrate Court.
Arlan was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday February 21, 2013, at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. Ron Chesser officiating. Burial will follow in the Enon Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. |
