![]() The West Virginia Postcard Project is a crowd-sourced visual arts and writing endeavor that showcases the creative spirit of West Virginia natives, transplants, and visitors. Participants will receive a custom 4x6-inch postcard on which to create a unique greeting that expresses the images and ideals of Wild, Wonderful West Virginia. All proceeds from the project support the West Virginia State Folk Festival. Participation is easy: (1) Send $5 with your name and address to WV Postcard Project Attn: Melissa Gish, Project Director, 415 Kanawha Street, Glenville, WV 26351. Send check or money order, or visit www.wvpostcardproject.blogspot.com to purchase by credit card School groups up to 20 just $25; senior citizen and church groups up to 20 just $35. (2) Receive your official canvas-ready postcardâcomplete with address and stamp. (3) Cover the front of your postcard with images, art, wordsâwhatever you wish, in any medium (or mixed media) that you desire. Draw or paint on your card. Paste paper or pictures onto your card. Decorate your card in any number of imaginative ways! (4) Write a short greeting on the back of your card. (5) Drop your card in the mail by June 1, 2013. During the 2013 West Virginia State Folk Festival, held June 20-23 in Glenville, your postcard will join hundreds of others from every county in the state in a fabulous display of West Virginia's thriving creative culture. Later, you will share our state's enduring cultural heritage when your postcard becomes part of a traveling exhibit that will make its way around West Virginia, appearing in art galleries, libraries, exhibit halls, college campuses, heritage centers, and government buildings.
