While no West Virginia residents have contacted the West Nile Virus, more birds
infected with the disease have been discovered.
Birds in a least four counties have now been discovered with the mosquito-bourne
disease, including Jackson, Putnam, Lincoln and Monongalia.
Two birds were found along WV 35 near Winfield.
A South American game bird purchased from an Ohio pet store has tested
positive.
Mosquitos spread the virus to humans and can cause serious health problems,
sometimes death. See earlier Hur Herald information on the West Nile Virus. |
