Calhoun County and a number of West Virginia's rural counties have been stuck in time with getting 21st Century technology, including broadband and cell phone service.
Calhoun OES/911 Director Kathy Wood told Calhoun commissioners this week that AT&T has applied for a permit to place a cell transceiver on the nearly 400' tower at Broomstick.
The installation would improve cell phone service to northern Calhoun.
Wood said the permit is being granted.
AT&T indicated in 2012 they were considering the Calhoun project.
Information has not yet been made available regarding when the service would go into operation.
