The Yellow Creek-Back Fork water extension is stuck for the lack of applicants,
according to Dale Cunningham, president of the Pleasant Hill Public Service
District.
"We are about 14 applicants shy of our 52 customers," said Cunningham. He said the
situation is critical. "The applications have been distributed. People just haven't
returned them," he said.
The Calhoun Commission says the financial package, over one million dollars, is
finally in place. Cunningham said the letting of a contract could be in short order provided
applicants return their form with a $100 tap fee.
Cunningham said 80 people originally signed for the water, but the number was
reduced to a minimum of 52 in the application.
"We've got the funding now, we need the final applications," he said. "The bids are on
hold."
He said it could be some of the older residents just don't have the $100 cash, but he
has received help from the Mid Ohio Valley Regional Council for reimbursement,
provided the family meets financial guidelines. The regular tap price will be $250.
Cunningham expressed concern the much needed project might collapse for lack of
interest. "We've tried to make it as easy as possible," he said. He said it has taken
years to get to this point.
"If anyone needs another application, call 354-7752," he concluded.
