Ewell Simmons Greathouse, 91, of Spencer, West Virginia went to be with the Lord February 4, 2013 at Eldercare of Ripley, West Virginia.
Mr. Greathouse was born April 24, 1921 in Roane County, West Virginia a son of the late Edgar and Ninevah "Daisy" Simmons Greathouse. He was employed by Monarch Rubber Company for over 42 years, 24 of them as plant manager. He loved farming, enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a charter member of the Faith Baptist Church.
He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Barbara Greathouse of Hartville Ohio, Fred and Peg Greathouse, Charles "Pooch" and Beverly Greathouse, Jerry and Jerri Greathouse, all of Spencer, and Terry and Debbie Greathouse of Walton, West Virginia; one sister, Mary Jo Jarvis of Spencer; one brother, Ernest Lakin Greathouse of St. Albans, West Virginia; ten grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Greathouse was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nola Mae Starcher Greathouse; and two brothers, Edward and Herman Greathouse.
Service 11:00am Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer with Rev. Rick Perrine officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Visiting hours are from 6:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Faith Baptist Church, PO Box 483 Spencer WV 25276.
