 Beatrice Crawford Shaffer, 90, formerly of Millstone, WV died on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 while staying temporarily at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston WV.
She was born at Crummies Creek, Calhoun County to John Thomas and Maggie Wood Crawford.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ray Shaffer; her parents; and brothers, Earl, Alton, Berlin, Earnest, Forest 'Pete' and Chancey 'Don'; sisters, Edra, Edith, Mamie and Tressie. She was the last surviving sibling in her family.
Surviving are her children, Margaret Rose Alvis (Roger) of Spencer WV, Drexel 'Dick' Eugene Shaffer (Linda) of DeSoto KS, and John William Shaffer (Lil) of Mount Zion WV; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, residing in Texas, Kansas and West Virginia.
She was a homemaker and attended Sand Ridge United Methodist Church. She dearly loved her Millstone community. She was cared for in her last years by her daughter, Mary and son-in-law Roger in Spencer, WV.
The family would like to express gratitude to Hospice Care and the Roane County Committee on Aging for the many months of wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, 2013, 1:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg with Pastor Tom Fletcher and Pastor Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
