Gilmer Middle School jumped out to an early lead and then pulled away from Calhoun Middle School en route to a 45-12 victory Thursday night.
The Titans took a 16-4 first quarter lead as six players got into the scoring column. The Titans enjoyed a 10-2 second quarter and a 26-10 halftime lead. The second half was more of the same as Gilmer enjoyed a 10-2 advantage in the third and an 8-4 edge in the fourth.
Chandler Ferguson and Trey Shuff led Gilmer with nine while Noah Aviles and Cole Haley added eight each. Lucas Sirbaugh had six, Bryce Roberts three and Jacob Hershberger two. Jared Pritt, Dalton Law, Hunter Self, Tyler Frasure and Gunnar Haley all played but did not score.
For Calhoun Middle School Jerry Jones and Sonny Wilson led the way with four apiece while Zack Yanero and Dave Jones added two each.
Christopher Kirkland, Chris Thornton, Jackson Taylor and Trevor Carder all played but did not score.
Gilmer also won the B game by a 52-4 score.
Ben Frederick and Brady Fox had two each to lead the Red Devils.
Levi Gregory, Buck Marks, Aaron West, Jaron Hall, Nolan Nelson, Jakiah Hickman, Ryan Miliron, Josh Schoolcraft, Damon Westfall and Johnny Watkins all played but did not score.
Self had 15 to lead Gilmer while Law added 10. Gunnar Haley added seven. Pritt six, Jesse Marks four and Noah Reinhardt, Frasure and Devin Parson two apiece. Jacob Persinger played but did not score.
Calhoun will return to action next Monday night at home against Walton.
