Several area residents & former residents made the news after being indicted over various crimes ranging from murder to gross stupidity. A number of folks were working on being chemists and pharmacists but, earlier in life hadn't mastered basic science so well. Shannon Jones Johnson brought a significant number of the indictments.

Jackson Timbering is cutting the trees on the Dihm place now owned by the mystery owners managed by the Heartwood Fund. Many of the poplar trees that are being cut would be fine logs 10 or 15 years from now. For those who aren't in the know the Dihm place is along the river just upstream from Mile Run, upriver from Creston. As a result of the logging and high water the road is said to be less than excellent.

Former real estate tycoon "Bill' Hunt who purchased a number of former Stonestreet leases drilled a Berea well on the ridge leading from Joker to Bell's Ford.

Planned Parenthood the big political outfit that is funded by the taxpayers bragged that they performed 333,000 abortions last year in the nation or one third of the total. Now those who express concern about such are labeled as "dangerous extremists".

Some years back the Big Eared One said, "I don't believe people should be able to own guns." One might say, "So much for defending the constitution". Joseph Goebbels wrote, "It thus becomes vitally important for he State to use all of its powers to repress dissent . . . for the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

The US Dept. of Interior recently fired a scientist because he pointed out that the proposed removal of dams in a western river would cause problems that weren't being addressed. He was told, Senor Salazar wants the dams removed and your actions aren't helpful.

Several folks have been busy getting their acreage in the Wirt Oil & Gas pool for leasing the Marcellus acreage. One of the big law firms is presently doing oil & gas titles in Calhoun County.

The pro oil and gas hydrofracing movie, "Fracknation" will be shown Tuesday evening on Access Tee Vee.

EQT or Equitable Gas has put out their proposed forced pooling bill which they intend to push through the Legislature. The term is now "lease integration" which is a means of getting the camel's nose under the edge of the tent. EQT has many old leases dating from the 19th century that have flat rate gas wells, etc. and they do not want to have to enter realistic negotiations with the heirs of those who they flimflamed over 100 years ago. They have a penchant of saying, "Oh he won't negotiate!" when no offer was ever made and the terms offered others would be offensive to anyone who could read and the basic rudimentary knowledge of what oil and gas leases for nowadays.

With the cooler weather cattle have been putting away the hay.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose to $95.96 with Appalachian light sweet (drip) fetching $84.11, Marcellus & Utica light $89.66 and medium $97.46/bbl.

It has been reported that Cabot plans to permit two wells in Wood County. When Cabot leases its minerals to others they receive a 25% royalty.
