Pearl "Sis" Batton Bates, 96 of Reedy, West Virginia died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, West Virginia.
She was born February 23, 1916 in Billings, West Virginia a daughter of the late William and Anna Haught Batton. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church on Cain's Run near Reedy. Pearl was a domestic missionary and helped many local people in times of need.
Pearl is survived by two daughters, Anna Elizabeth Flint of Spencer and Margaret Ellen Platt of Reedy; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Hamilton Bates in 2005; a daughter, Mary Lynn Bates Perrin; a son, Earl Stephen Bates; and six brothers.
Service 1:00pm Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with Revs. John Price and Garry Bowen officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery, Reedy. Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 8:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
