Responders extract victim of car accident on Rt. 16
1:30 PM - A 50-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle Wednesday on rain slick Rt. 16 near the White Pine intersection and plunged over an embankment.
The vehicle rolled-over at least twice before coming to rest, trapping the man in the car.
The Grantsville VFD used the Jaws of Life to extract the driver, who was taken to Minnie Hamilton Health System by Calhoun EMS.
Reports indicated the man had multiple fractures, including a possible fracture to his arm.
It was a second crash within 24-hours likely related to rain and sleet weather conditions.
The driver or an occupant of a crashed vehicle was discovered in a ditchline about 10 p.m. Tuesday on Hog Knob Hill, Rt. 5, just east of Grantsville.
Responders said one man suffered some injuries, including a laceration to the head, with alcohol likely involved.
Calhoun EMS took the victim and a second male to Minnie Hamilton Health System.
The Grantsville VFD responded to the scene.
The Hog Knob Hill has been the site of frequent crashes for many years.
