A WV state program can help families with their heating bills.
Households that have been hit hard by our nation's poor economy and unemployment rates may be eligible for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP), which helps with the cost of heating.
LIEAP helps families with that cost through direct cash payments or payments to utility companies.
It's a one time payment.
The program is federally funded through the state Department of Health and Human Resources and the Bureau for Senior Services.
You do have to be eligible based on a number of factors, like income and total heating costs.
For those interested in this program, you can apply between January 22nd and February 1st.
You can go to your local DHHR office or senior center.
You can also fill out an application online at www.wvinroads.org
