| George Eugene Shaffer, 85, of Grantsville WV, passed away January 7, 2013 at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg.
Born October 23, 1927 in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Charter and Odessa Pearl Connolly Shaffer.
He was a US Army Veteran and was a retired employee of the General Motors Corporation. He was a volunteer bus driver for the Veteran's Administration. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and I.O.O.F. Lodge of Glenville, the Oberlin Masonic Lodge #0380 F. and A.M., Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg, Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, Elyria Council, the Royal Arch Mason of Ohio, Oberlin Chapter 219, Order of the Eastern Star, Stone City Chapter #325, Knights of Templar of Elyria, Ohio and Knight Masons of Dublin, Ireland, Shannon Council #28 and the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council from 1983-1990 and the Junior Order of American Mechanics.
Surviving are one daughter, Daisy Martinear and her husband Quan of Japan; two sons, Steve and Ritchie of Orma WV; one stepson, Scott Coon and his wife Delta of Parkersburg WV; one brother, James Shaffer of Belle WV and a special friend of 24 years, Etta Coon; six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, 1:30 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with Rev. Kevin Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Collins Community Cemetery at Stumptown. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday.
