GRANTSVILLE LOOKING AT TRADE OPTIONS FOR PROPERTY - Town Office Filing Starts Jan. 14

(01/11/2013)
The Town of Grantsville is continuing to look at options regarding the disposition of their property adjacent Rt 5-16, known as "the pit."

Council has given Mayor Curtis Garretson permission to formally ask Calhoun Banks and businessman Steve Satterfield for a survey, an appraisal and a breakdown of utility costs for their properties.

Satterfield has joined the bank in proposing a trade for the town property, in his case because the WVDHHR office property on Main Street, which he owns, will become vacant when the agency moves to new quarters at the Industrial Park.

"I am looking to see what the town has to do and the costs of getting these documents for our own property," said Garretson.

The issue will be placed on the council agenda in April.

The council approved an accounting firm for an $800,000 sewage project, if it is approved. Bennett and Dobbins' bid for $26,500 was approved.

Geneva Nicholson was sworn in as a new council member, replacing Andrew Smith who resigned at the end of December.

Jenna Jett was hired as the town manager.

The town's election will be held June 14. Filing begins on January 14 and will go through Jan 26th. Filing fee is $5.00.
