C. Benny Harper, 73, of Gandeeville, West Virginia died December 30, 2012 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was born April 1, 1939 in Boone County, West Virginia a son of the late James harold and Opal Boggs Harper. Benny was a 1957 Walton High School graduate and owned and operated Peggy's Inn in Gandeeville for over 34 years. He was a member of the Walton Volunteer Fire Department, formerly worked at the Spencer State Hospital and enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Lisa A. Harper Bissell; two grandchildren; one sister, Betty Deel of Cottageville, West Virginia; and one brother, Gail Harper of Dunbar, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Benny was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue McCroskey Harper and a sister, Carol Ann Harper.
Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the TAYLOR-VANDALE FUNERAL HOME, Spencer, with his brother-in-law, Rev. James Deel officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The body will then be cremated with burial taking place at a later date in the Clover Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to help with funeral costs.
